How Do You Resurface Bathroom Tiles?

Resurface Bathroom Tiles

If you’re looking for a hassle-free way to remodel your bathroom, tile refinishing is the way to go. You can transform the look of your tile without any dust, debris, or costly demolition. Maryland Tub and Tile offers professional tile refinishing, and our customers often ask, “How do you resurface bathroom tiles?” Read on to learn about our tile refinishing process, backed by a five-year guarantee.

Professional Tile Refinishing vs. DIY Tile Resurfacing

The way tile refinishers resurface tiles is a lot more thorough than DIY resurfacing. We do not recommend trying to paint tile on your own, and not just because it affects our business. The paint kits on the market do not have the same durability, consistency and longevity as our multi-step refinishing process.

Store-bought options scratch easily, and they are difficult to apply. We have the tools, equipment and expertise to ensure amazing results for your resurfaced tile. Best of all, you get a five-year warranty that ensures your satisfaction long after your bathroom transformation.

Prep the Bathroom Tiles

The first step in professional tile resurfacing is preparing the tiles for their new coating. This includes cleaning them with a special product that removes all oil, dirt, and built-up grime on the tiles. Preparation is crucial for making sure the final coat looks pristine. It is a detailed process that we have spent a great deal of time perfecting.

Repair Chipped or Cracked Tiles

If there are any cracks or chips in the tiles, we will repair those during the prep steps. Otherwise, the final coating will show all the dings from the old tile. We want your tile to look fresh, new and revitalized! We’ll fill in the blemishes so the end result is beautifully smooth.

Fill in Old Grout Lines

If your grout lines are sunken in or uneven, we may lightly fill them in with fresh grout to smooth everything over. This is not always necessary. Tile resurfacing covers both the tile and the grout, which means you won’t have to deal with absorbent grout lines in the future! Enjoy an easy cleaning experience in your beautiful, custom bathroom.

Resurface the Bathroom Tiles

With all of the prep work out of the way, we apply multiple layers to create a new tile surface. This may be a solid color or a combination of colors that look like faux stone. You can choose whatever color combination you’d like, and you can also choose where we apply each finish. For instance, you may want mostly white tile with a faux stone border. Or you may want an accent stripe running along the middle of your shower. Whatever your ideas are, we can bring them to life with custom tile refinishing.

Leave the New Coating to Cure and Harden

The final coat will take several days to fully cure. The surface may be hard to the touch in a matter of hours, but the tile should be untouched for at least 48 hours. This gives the layers underneath time to set, which extends the life of the resurfaced tile. We’ll provide all of this information during your care instructions.

Once the coating has fully cured, you can use your bathtub, shower, floor or countertop just like you did before!

How to Schedule Your Bathroom Tile Resurfacing

Now that you know how tiles are resurfaced, it’s time to decide if tile refinishing is right for you. The process is much more affordable than tile replacement, and it skips the need for messy demolition. If you’re ready to get started, contact Maryland Tub and Tile at 877-717-8827 to arrange for your no-obligation consultation.
